Even XENA Makes Mistakes – Luscious Maven’s Women Warrior Pole Show Performance

This past Friday, June 5th, I performed in Luscious Maven’s Women Warriors Pole Show at the Federal Bar in North Hollywood. I actually performed in 2 pieces first, my solo Xena routine, then in a group girl gang performance. A couple things about the lead up the the performance: 1. I love Xena, I love Lucy Lawless – when the theme: Women Warriors came up it was a no brainer 2. My concerns beforehand: I didn’t want to half ass the costume and I wasn’t sure I had the time or skill I didn’t want to look like “fat” Xena (yup, my mind can be a dick) then I thought, Would I think that watching someone else my size perform the routine? – I wouldn’t – so I decided to push through I can’t perform to just any song, it has to make me want to MOVE and it took me forever to find a song I actually wanted to be Xena to – I almost didn’t audition because of it The main reason I don’t perform as much as I could is because the stage set-up is 2 onstage poles and one X-Stage front and center. The x-stage is the best place to perform to give everyone a good view, but I HATE it so much. It feels really unstable to me like any second I can take it down. It is a big reason that I do very simply, non-trick heavy routines. I am working on getting over that fear though. I have been really off my pole game for like … the last 6 months *EEP*...
