Along with poling at home I am surrounding myself with the pole inspiration I love. This distance has really helped me discover what I really love about pole and what I could care less about….sexy body rolls, floor work, emotion, flexy moves is where it is at for me!
Four years into my pole dance journey and it’s hard to remember why I was ever nervous about pole dancing to begin with.
I mean I get nervous about doing specific tricks, namely ones that I might fall on my face while attempting it. I do stress about not poling enough, worry about not being good enough or working hard enough. I get butterflies for performances, etc, but that whole thing many new polers experience about being too scared to take their first class, I don’t remember that. I don’t think I took much convincing either to take my first class, my friend did it, she suggested it to me, and I gave it a shot, end of story…sorta.
Refraining from overanalyzing this freestyle – it is what it is, both good and bad…
*Review is entirely my own, product was purchased by me and I have no connection to Pole Box Club*
What brought this up now was that I saw a lovely profile on Dana Falsetti, a plus size yogi, for whom yoga has helped her achieve a healthier and happy life. Cue HATE:
My latest blog post has gotten an ….interesting…response. Mostly I’ve gotten positive feedback though there is negative too and I imagine more negative than I am able to see. Seriously you guys, I really never thought it would be a big deal, but I’m glad it has gotten a conversation going.
Inventing a pole move this late in the game doesn’t mean much of anything. I’m not saying this to be mean, I’m saying this to liberate you. I’m pretty sure every pole dancer who has ever touched a pole has invented a move, a combo, or at the very least a variation. Also, there is 99.999999999999% chance that the move you “invented” and are now proclaiming as the *Insert Your Name Here* pole move is actually a move strippers have been doing for years. So calm it the f* down.
